…Chapter 7…
“I have no idea what I am going to do without you.” Jess cried softly as she stared in to his eyes, those hurtful and sad eyes that echoed hers.
“We will always be in touch. I won’t let you get away from me now that I have found you. I love you, you know. I will come back for you soon, someday.” Alex said as he leaded down to kiss her check. “But look I have a going away present for you even when I am the one who is going away.” Alex pulled a small box out of his pocket and handed it to her.
“Alex…” Jess breathed as she began to open the present. It was wrapped in black paper with silver engraved in swirls all around it. It was so beautiful she didn’t want to open it but began to anyway. It was a box. “Ohh Alex you shouldn’t have.” Jess said laughing.
“Idiot you have to open the box.” Alex also laughed.
Opening the box, she caught sight of what was in the box. It was a leather necklace with a black onyx bat on it.
“Alex!” Jess gasped. “Help me put it on.” She said taking her silver chain with her birth stone on it of.
When she felt the weight of the leather on her she felt safe.
“Here.” Jess said to Alex as she held out her hand to give Alex the necklace that she just had on. “I know it is sudden but you keep this to always remember me. And don’t think I won’t forget your promise to help me write 3 stories. I will email you what I have done now so that you can gibe me some ideas. Okay!”
Alex smiled, “Yes I will get back to you on that, and I will treasure this necklace with all my heart. Now I have to go now. Bye.” Alex said slowly walking away. “I will be back in the summer don’t worry.”
“Bye.” Jess whispered, softly letting tears fall down.
She stayed like that until he was out of sight, and then in a daze she walked to her car and drove home, letting tears almost blind her vision.
When she arrived, she saw someone with blond hair and blue eyes. She knew who it was. Trevor.
Walking up to him she looked at his face to sense his mood to tell her some sort of sign why he was here.
“Trevor.” Jess said weary.
“Jessy,” Jess winced at the sight of her old nickname when they were still friends; “I heard what happened I am sorry hes gone. I know he is what kept you sane since the incident. I just wanted to see if you needed anyone to talk to.” Trevor said with something in his eyes that Jess hasn’t seen in a long time.
“No you can go home Trevor. I don’t need you, and I haven’t needed you in years.” Jess whispered not trusting her voice to collapse.
“Okay. Mmm, oh and I also wanted to tell you that Tyler is coming home this week to finish his last year of high school with us.”
Memories of our old childhood friend since kindergarten. He moved in 6th grade, one year before Trevor left her for fame.
“Have you told him what has happened to us over the years.” Jess said calmly.
“No, not yet.”
“You know its you who has to tell him everything, and no lies, the truth. That you left me, our fights, even what happened a month ago.”
“I know.” Trevor said worriedly. He wasn’t to ideal on telling his long lost friend what has happened but it was to be done.
“Do you know what date he’s coming home on?”
“Thursday.”
“Where?”
“At the airport, at 4:30 p.m. gate 32.”
“I will be there to see him when he comes home but I will leave afterwards so you can tell him, Okay?”
“Yea. I will see you then. Bye.” Trevor said lightly as he thought of ways to tell his friend why he ditched his other friend.”
“Bye Trevor.” Jess said softly as she opened her house door, claimed up the stairs to her bedroom, laided down on the bed that let the tears win the game of hurtfulness and emptiness that was in her heart.
