Sacrifice

Prologue-

The party was dying down. Some people had left, others had passed out. Leah sat outside, shivering. She couldn’t believe she had come here.

The tears started again as she thought of what was lost, but she could never go back.

She glanced up just in time to see Josh come out. He immediately noticed her and started her way.

He was the “bad boy” everyone had said. They had tried to warn her, but she hadn’t listened. She had thought she could change him. How wrong she had been, he had changed her.

As he came closer she could see the regret in his eyes.

“Are you all right?”

She almost laughed. What a stupid question. “Just take me home.”

He groaned. “Leah, I’m sorry about…about last night…” His voice caught. “I’m really sorry…”

“Please, Josh, don’t say anything. Just take me home.”

He did.

And gazed sorrowfully after her as she went up the porch steps and into the house, why had he taken her to that party?

He sighed. Inwardly he knew the answer to that question. He had wanted to show her he was a party boy who couldn’t be changed, but things had gotten out of hand.

………………………..

Leah shut the door behind her and fell against it. The sobs tore from some place deep inside of her.

She didn’t know how long she sat there, but finally she rose.

Thank goodness her parents were gone for the weekend or she didn’t know how she would explain why she had been gone all night. She mounted the stairs to the bathroom and turned on the shower. She wanted to wash away the pain and shame and dirtiness she felt.
