Chapter 1
It was the most beautiful day. It was warm and sunny. The sky was blue. The birds were singing joyous tunes. This is the typical beginning of any happy story. Unfortunately this isn’t one of them. This is the beginning of very sarcastic story.
Of course anyone would be happy on a day like this, but not Carly. Today it was also unfortunate that Carly and her friends were invited to her Great-great-great Grandmothers “101st” birthday.
101 reminds Carly of the book 1984, near the end of the book there was room called 101 in which characters greatest fears were realized and was used by the sinister communist party Big Brother. Her Great-great-great Grandmother was 101 and scary. Her Aunt Perdy (short for Pertucella)was like Big Brother, enough said.
Carly trudges along making her way up the hill. Her thick brown boots make a clunking sound. Her two best friends climb the mountainous hill on either side of her. James on the left, Noel on the right, the heat is getting to them.
Carly was rather tall, 198 cm, she was weight propionate and has brilliant mahogany hair, which was messy and un-kept, but suited her just the same
Carly’s friend James looked like stereotypical nerd. He thick black framed glasses, skinny. He had a certain distain for humanity in his eyes a sadness that loomed over him like a cloud.
Carly’s best friend Noel was a beautiful Native American girl with raven hair and deep brown eyes.
But enough about Carly and her dastardly friends…
James a few feet behind, struggles with several camera bags, ladled around him, his thick black framed glasses slide down his nose and sweat drips down his face.
Carly and Noel thought James was lagging behind because of his enormous camera bags, which were surprisingly not heavy at all. He had ulterior motives. Specifically Carly, there is something about her, that can save him from his misery.
The three of them rather tired from there journey, reach the top of the hill, arriving at the small light-blue house with white window frames. The lawn hadn’t been cut in weeks. Music can be heard from the back yard. It is as Carly had suspects. They are late. Carly checks her silver watch, 4:05 p.m.
“Gosh my watch is 10 minutes slooowww!” She changes the time on her watch, gently she nudges Noel.
“Ahh… 10 minutes slow,” Noel replies. She also changes the time.
Carly and Noel saunter towards the carport. James still behind, topples over from the apparent weight of the camera bags.
“James, do you need help?” Noel asks rather smugly.
“Yes!” he replies.
“Ahh…that’s too bad.” She pushes past Carly.
Carly runs to James, to help him. She grabs a couple of bags. He slowly gets up his Nikon camera swinging around his neck. James yanks the bags from Carly.
“Your welcome,” says Carly.
“Mmmhmph,” James replies.
Carly follows James, her hand grazes her brother’s giant red Dodge truck. The alarm goes off, announcing to surprised relatives, her arrival. Figures she thinks. Tony is obsessed with is truck. Something like this can only happen to me.
Her grotesque aunt appears through the car port. Her beady eyes glaring at Carly, How dare she be late Carly is never late she thinks.
“Where have you been? You’re ten minutes late.”
“Were not late, its 3:55 p.m. The party doesn’t start till 4,” says Noel, she grins nervously “Right Carly?”
Aunt Perdy notices their attempt for deception. Carly sighs, why does Noel always do that?
James nudges Noel, “You’re afraid of here,” he whispers.
“Of course not,” Noel replies, “You’re the one that’s afraid of her no balls.”
“Who are you calling ‘no balls’ pansy,” James replies.
Aunty Perdy growls like a cat. She walks up to James.
“I want to know why you’re late!” she demands.
“No,” says Carly, “See look my watch says 3:58 so you know were um 2 minutes early.”
Carly smiles hopefully.
