he's curled up on your filthy rug

disgorging all that you hate about him

and bleeding from that

hole in his chest

you ripped his heart out

with your bare hands

it bled through your fingers

and onto the floor and he watched

all that he was pool at your feet

with a look of painful realization

on his face marked black and blue

if that's what it takes

he weakly smiles up at you

with his bloodstained teeth

his soulless eyes

pleading

his frail body

trembling

he whispers like

a puff of smoke from a dying cigarette

you had to strain your ears to hear

but that was too much effort for you to waste on him

so you just watched his cracked lips form the desperation

do you love me now?

you said

"no."

no.

the word plagued his head

and swelled in his throat until he couldn't breathe

(it would have shattered his heart too

but you already broke it)

he's suffocating and he doesn't know

just how much longer he can hold out for you
