I feel her approach,

the vibrations of her steps echoing through me.

A crystalline tear falls into my depths.

She dangles her feet into my chilly grasp,

my bubbling body comforting her.

She doesn't flinch at the icy feel of me,

her smile as cold and sorrowful.

I hear and feel the shifting friction of a stone being picked from my grasp.

The stone is old and worn from my cooling caress, smooth and white.

She holds the large stone in trembling arms.

She wades into me, up to her waist,

taking deep breaths to sooth her pounding heart.

She dives into me, down to the cold depths of my heart.

She places the stone on her chest,

I realize it's her time to leave this world.

I churn faster, stealing the breath she has left,

numbing her pain .

Little bubbles escape her lips as her innocent eyes

glaze over white as the stone that took their light.
