This poem is dedicated to my Composition III professor, Mr.Ledbetter. I will never look upon poetry the same again!
The Feast
Plot: Twelve wealthy gentlemen are feasting in a manor atop a hill, when a beggar knocks at the door. The dinner host selfishly turns him away, yielding no objection from the eleven guests.
Hidden Words: At the end of each line is a hidden word that can be deciphered when the sentence is sounded out.
Line 1: offense
Line 2: negligence
Line 3: miserliness
Line 4: distress
Line 5: greed
Line 6: mislead
Line 7: malcontent; it’s not hidden because it is the projection of the greedy man’s character manifesting itself.
Line 8: resentment
Hidden Theme: Egg imagery; take it how you will. I will not identify each image because I believe that you, the reader, will have more fun uncovering it for yourself.
Ultimate Moral: To show the plight of the poor in olde and modern times.
