"Where are you planning to go?"
"What are you planning to do?"
Sadly no one was there to say the words. To stop her.
Yanagi looked at the dark street. She could turn back, but her feet wouldn't move. Only forward they would go.
But she had not idea where she was going, her feet just lead her to some unknown destination. Then again she knew why, but where. That was the last mystery.
She was looking for Ryuu.
Ryuu and only Ryuu.
Yanagi crossed in a dark alley way, the same where the boy had been killed, she fell against the hard pavement. Her shoulders began to shake as she started to cry and regret all that had happened.
It was her fault, for not saving him she should die, she wasn't wanted. Life would go on.
And as though her pleas for sweet mercy were answered, there appeared the person she seek-Ryuu.
"I knew you would be here."
"What?" Yanagi turned around, behind her was Ryuu.
"Ryuu."
"Hey, it wasn't your fault, you didn't kill him."
"I could have saved him!!" she screamed,
"Could? Then why didn't you?"
"I was scared I would get caught. Scared I'd die."
"You wouldn't have died."
"How would you know Ryuu!?"
"I killed him of course." he smiled wickedly,
"You what!"
"Killed him." he said pulling his knife out. Suddenly feeling a sharp pain on his cheek.
Ryuu grinned. "Did I hurt your feelings?" Ryuu said in a mocking tone.
"So what if you did! It wouldn't matter anyway." Ryuu chuckled.
"Look I'm..." that all he said, Yanagi nodded.
"You can blame me."
"I could have saved him it's my fault." Yanagi said, another cut, on his arm.
"These scars are from knife fights and from cutting myself."
"I know." Yanagi said, after Ryuu finished licking himself, she stroked his cut gently.
"Ryuu."
"What?"
"Will you..." Ryuu looked at her,
"Kill me..."
"What?!" he yelled,
"Are you afraid?" she asked coldly,
"No! But why?!"
"My life is meaningless, no one likes me. I'm good for nothing. And the one chance to prove myself, I failed. I don't deserve to live. Ryuu please, please help me." she said falling to the ground.
"Yanagi..."
"I won't."
"Why?!" she cried,
" I don't know why, but I can't."
"Why?!" she screamed cling to Ryuu's pant-leg, he removed her hands.
"I can't." She was about to question why, but then noticed something. A sad look in Ryuu's eyes, something she never saw before. She always knew that Ryuu had that look in his eyes. Killer eyes. Un-feeling eyes. Emotion-less eyes. Now he looked sad.
"Ryuu...are you feeling sad?" she asked, he crouched down so they met eye to eye.
"I'm I feeling what?"
"Sad."
"What's sad?" Ryuu questioned,
"Um, sad is...what I'm always feeling." Yanagi grinned sadly,
"Sad." Ryuu repeated to himself. He knew the word but never understood it.
"Ryuu...doesn't have a conscience."
"But why, why is he being so nice. People like that don't know right from wrong. People like that like to kill."
"Ryuu why are you always so nice to me?" asked Yanagi,
"I don't know."
"Why are you never angry with me."
"I don't know." he answered again,
"Do you pity me?"
"Pity?"
"Is when you feel sorry for someone."
"I don't know." he answered once more.
"Yanagi I'm confused." he replied,
"Ryuu...your feeling."
"I'm what?"
"Nothing." Yanagi smiled,
"You smiled." he said,
"All he feels is anger and hatred, like he forgot how to feel."
"But why does it feel like my heart is...fluttering...like it has wings..." Ryuu said clutching his heart,
"Your happy Ryuu." he nodded.
"I feel this way when I see you smile." Yanagi blushed,
"But..." his voice heavy with sadness,
" Do you still want me to kill you?" She nodded sadly.
"How do you want to die?"
"The same as that boy." Yanagi said, Ryuu did as he was told and slashed her abdomen, the same way he did to the boy.
"Ugh..." she said clutching her stomach.
"It's worth it." she told herself,
"Yanagi..." Before she could lift her head, she felt something against her lips. And suddenly everything went black.
Ryuu pulled the knife from where he stabber her. In the heart."What this feeling called, it's more then happiness."
"Yet..." before Ryuu could say anything a tear rolled down his cheek. Then another, and another.
"Why is it, I'm like this?!" he said banging his fist on the pavement till it bled. "Why is it I'm so angry...and...sad. Yes I'm feeling angry and sad but why?!"
"What is this feeling called!" he screamed mentally. A sudden breeze began to blow,
"It's called love..." It said, then died down.
"Love?" Ryuu repeated, he looked down at Yanagi, "I loved her?" he questioned. He leaned down and kissed her lifeless lips again. He looked up and saw Yanagi's face, calm and content with a small smile on her face. Ryuu smiled, not a smile of mockery, pain or sadness. But of happiness.
He ran away from the scene of the murderer.
From that day forth Ryuu forgot about his emotions again, Yanagi's body was eventually discovered. Surprisingly many people came to the funeral, they said it was a waste of a life. She could have changed, if only she asked for help instead of pushing everyone away. Was how she was remember, bitterly. But in everyone there is kindness, she was remembered as kind in a bitter sweet way,for never troubling people with her problems.
Ryuu never did feel again, not until the day he got caught. The day he was tried and found guilty. The day he was sent to jail. The day he died.
"I promised that the day I get caught, I will join you Yanagi. A year later..."
A cut in the abdomen and stab in the heart. He smiled. Not a smile of mockery, pain, sadness, or happiness, but a smile of love and kindness.
