A series of poems I did for english class plus extras.
What is Poverty?
Poverty is the spirit of despair
Hovering over you like a feather on a breeze,
Or maybe a shadow darker
Than pitch blackness.
Poverty is like an icy rain
It bites and wears you down
Bit by bit.
Or maybe it's deeper than the ocean depths
It digs deep into your pockets
Deeper into the nether world
It crawls out of sewers and
Through drains looking for those
Who are uncertain as to where they belong
And when it finds you it fills you
With debt and loss.
