A/N: This story also appears on as an Inuyasha fanfic. K? Enjoy and please review. Thank you.

Sapphire looked up into the brown eyes of her lover and smiled softly. “Do you know why I love you, Mical?” she asked.

He shook his head and smiled. “Not a clue.” he whispered.

“It’s because you’re everything I ever wanted.” she said as she brushed a lock of his long brown hair out of his slender face.

Mical laughed, kissing her forehead. “I’m everything you ever want?” he asked. “Somehow I find that hard to believe.”

She rolled her eyes and looked up at the starry sky. “Trust you to ruin a sweet moment.” she whispered, mock anger in her voice.

The pair laughed and kissed. Mical’s hand strayed to the back of her head and he pressed her lips more firmly against his, deepening the kiss. They lingered over it, enjoying the taste of the other’s lips. When they broke the kiss, Sapphire averted her face so Mical wouldn’t see her grin. She still got butterflies in her stomach when he kissed her.

With his slender forefinger and middle finger, Mical turned her face back to him. “You’re beautiful.” he whispered.

Sapphire shook her head. “Don’t say that.” she said firmly, frowning at his words.

Looking a little hurt, Mical asked, “Why?”

“Because it’s not true.” she replied simply.

Mical sat up and stared down at her, affronted. “Are you saying that I lie to you every time I pay you a complement?” he asked.

Sapphire shook her head. “That’s not what I meant.” she said quickly.

“Then what did you mean?” Mical asked hotly.

Tilting her head skyward, Sapphire tried to arrange her thoughts as best she could. Many a nights she’d lain away pondering the definition of beauty. When her thoughts were in order, she turned her gaze to the moon hovering over them. She couldn’t look at him while she said this.

“Beauty implies perfection.” she began. “Humans are not perfect. We are far from it, in face. It’s something that should only be used to describe something fits that ideal.”

Mical looked at her, continuing to frown. “And what, my love, in your opinion is something that can be called beautiful?” he asked.

A slight smile tugged at her lips. “A painting, any artwork really, is beautiful. Poetry, true poetry written from the heart, is beautiful. Nature, the land of this world that are untamed and untouched by man, is beautiful.” she said softly.

Sighing deeply, Mical took her in his arms and lay her across his lap so he could gaze down into her lovely face and drown in those green eyes he loved so much. “If that is the definition of beauty then I may say it to you.” he said softly.

Sapphire opened her mouth to speak but he silenced her by pressing his finger to her lips. “You are as lovely as any painting that hangs in all the museums in this world.” he whispered as he brushed a stray lock of her blond hair from her face. “You are poetry in motion. Your walk, your laugh, your smile, the way you look at me when you’re angry. All of it is poetry spoken by the silence voice of God.” Mical paused here to give her a quick kiss. “And you are the embodiment of this untamed and untouched nature that you speak of.”

Tears well up in her eyes and she quickly sat up, averting her face. “You think you’re so smart.” she said softly in the hopes that he wouldn’t hear it crack with emotion. “Saying all that sweet stuff to me to try and make me see like a fool.”

Laughing, he turned her face to him once more. “I’m telling you this because you explained it so perfectly.” he said. “You are everything you just said.” He brushed a tear off of her cheek. “You’re just too modest to admit it.”
