Its a Teenager Thing

It’s a teenager thing

Completely random emotional spasms
Adopting different forms of various sarcasms

Peering deep into a rippled reflection
Understanding only the world’s inspection

So many different opinions dull the senses
Searching for truth has its daily expenses

Surrounded by the Holy Spirit’s kindly fire
Yet consumed with an icy heart of desire

It’s a teenager thing

Staggering secrets kept deep, dark within
Suddenly burst forth with rage and sin

Retreating to dreadfully ghastly places
To try to sort out all the empty spaces

Turning their gaze to worldly possessions
Immersing themselves in Satan’s distractions

Trying to fill that hole empty and tart
Aches like a dagger strait to the heart

It’s a teenager thing

Wondering what the point is in life
Looking for relief from a razor or knife

Looking skinner by eating less and less
Just so that right guy or girl will say yes

Telling just a few little white lies
Only to be veiled in a foreign disguise

Glowering depression strait in the eye
Embracing pain’s escape to briefly satisfy

It’s a teenager thing

Only caring about the popularity and cash
Deciding to try beer at a new friend’s bash

Next they say it was all a simple accident
Yet forever scarred no matter initial intent

Finally we reach the end of our rope
All the tears for only a glimmer of hope

We reach up to rock bottom and wonder
Could it all have been my own blunder?

It’s a teenager thing

Listening with open ears but to the wrong voices
Checking the options but making the wrong choices

Just looking for Love but in all the wrong places
Always running but all the wrong races

With new light we stand brave taking our assigned seats
For next the process shall begin once again and repeat

Trial after trial, the potter will mold
It is finished, the cornerstone will hold

It’s a Christian thing
