The Turning of Nature

Summer’s moon has long since faded,

as Autumn’s brilliance wanes,

and Nature bows her weary head

and shakes the burden from her boughs

as Winter’s solemn sky bears tidings

of the Northern winds.

And long has the honey-hued rose held dear

the breath of warmer days -

yet each year in passing, she blushes

with the first kiss of Spring rain

and bears upon her heart a single teardrop

‘til Summer’s light fades the memory

with the promise of sapphire-touched skies.
