Hidden in a Raindrop

6/3/05

Days pass by in muted shades of grey

A thousand clouds dissolve and reform

But behind simple lines of expression

Of eyes turned before emotion,

Lies perfection entombed in raindrops.

Sun hides on the other side of the world;

Thick ashen twilight clings like

Gossamer clotted with cobwebs so dreary

Yet in the sparkle of falling cloud shrapnel

Something glints, something I've seen in your eyes

But only once upon a time.

Forgotten and hidden

Thunder calling from a distant sunset

Cold fog rips your name from my lungs

So before I spill these cisterns

Let me tell you one more thing

One more thing you already know -

Once there was a look in your eyes . . .

Thanks a lot for the storms

For the million tears that fell

Like silent spring rain turned fatal.

Thanks a lot for leaving me out

When I didn't even have a coat.

I miss that once upon a time

I miss that look in your eyes

Thanks a lot.
