she dyed her hair pink
(so she would be noticed.)
she looked only between the lines
(instead of what was plain and there)
so she would be noticed.
she wrote songs that copied green day
and bowling for soup
(so she would be noticed.)
she read books about high school
(instead of pretty ol’ Shakespeare)
so she would be noticed.

she wore juicy couture
(so she would be noticed.)
she watched degrassi and summerland
(so she would be noticed.)
she ignored all the teachers
(so she would be noticed.)
she learned the guitar
(instead of the viola)
so she would be noticed.

and guess what?
she wasn’t noticed.

her life came crashing down.
(because that was all the life she had left.)
