Did You Never Wonder?

Did you never wonder why?
Did you never care to discover
Why I act the way I do
Why I never have fun
Why I write depressing poem
Why I talk about suicide?
Did you just not want to know
Did you like your innocence
The innocence of thinking I’m fine
I hate to break it to you
But I’m far from “all right”
You see these lines on my hips?
I didn’t fall in a rose bush
I took my razor and created the lines
That’s what the poems mean
That’s why I don’t have fun
This is who I am
Do you still want to laugh it off?
Do you want to brush it aside again?
Well go ahead, I dare you
Try and call the bluff that isn’t there
This will be the one bet
You wish you hadn’t taken
There was no bluff to call
But you can’t take back a bet
Once your money’s gone, it’s gone
And so am I
Didn’t you ever wonder
Weren’t you ever curious
Didn’t I act truthfully enough
To show you it was no bluff?
Apparently not
But now there’s nothing to wonder
Nothing to be curious about
Because the hand’s on the table
And you lost
You lost me
