Raindrops
Pitter. Patter. The rain drops created a waterfall down the window. A girl's crystal blue eyes set her gaze at it and tapped her fingers lightly on the desk to the rhythm. The stout teacher was lecturing about the significance of history to today. He was too busy writing upon the chalk board to notice that the girl was not paying attention. With her head turned, soft black hair covered the one side of her face and cast a shadow upon the other side. The girl seemed to be in deep thought because she did not notice the person behind her was continuously poking her in the back with the eraser end of a pencil. The bell rang and she was finally brought back into reality. As she stood up, the teacher called out to her asking to stay after class. The rest of the students left in their fast pace while the girl remained passive while standing motionless.
"Cecil...I'm worried about you. You keep failing each and every single test I hand out...but the thing is that your homework is excellent. So what is the matter?" However the girl did not respond and remained emotionless.
"Cecil?" The teacher's words finally seemed to have gotten through to the girl as she started to respond in a cold voice.
"No matter how hard I try, I fail. No matter how I managed to get back up from falling down into the ground. No matter what...so what point is there to try now?" With that the girl walked away to the rhythm of the raindrops. Continuing down the hallway she found another girl standing in front of the doorway to her next class.
"Hey." The voice was pure and peaceful; and suddenly the raindrops outside stopped and the sun started to shine out from the sky.
"Hnn." The tone was cold again, yet it was not as harsh as when the girl talked to the teacher.
"Don't tell me...Mr. Perturbus finally confronted you about always failing his tests?" The peaceful girl leaned her body against the wall near to the doorway.
"Yeah."
"So what is the problem anyways?"
"You are the only one who understands..."
