As most bands go, there’s an unreliable lead guitarist, a reliable bassist, a fun drummer, an over shadowed guitarist, an over- worked lead singer, and a couple of crazed backup singers. That sounds cliché, right? Well, in a time where the majority of people listen to a band for it’s appealing emo name, we have a rather cliché emo name.

We all attended (Okay, so all of us haven’t graduated yet, but we will soon!) the same high school, and all came fro very different social statuses. But when it came time for a band name, we had all dropped to the “loser” status, and thus became The Looser Laydown.

As far as lead guitarists go, Dan is about the most unreliable guy that there is. He’s ladies man, and a big player, not to mention that he changes them like underwear, and treats them nice, until they break up two days later for some inane reason. Don’t get me wrong, Dan can be the best band mate, and a great older brother for his two little sisters, and he’s a great guitarist, and friend, but you can’t rely on him for shit.

Then there’s Nate, our bassist. He’s reliable, and in my memory, he hasn’t made a promise that he hasn’t kept. Nate the backbone for all of us; he’s the reason that we’re together as a band today, or even the reason we’re a band at all. And although we had to help him over his drug addiction last year, Nate’s always the one that we go to.

Then there’s Noelle, our drummer. She’s the wild one; always ready for a party or an adventure, but knows who her friends are. Especially after an incident last year at an… erm… bar. Noelle’s dirty blonde hair is always streaked with some funky color, or done in some crazy hair- do.

And you can’t forget Dylan, our over-shadowed guitarist. He has 11 brothers and sisters, and has never had his own room in his life. He’s the straight A student, he’s made the honor rolls every semester except for once Freshman year, when he missed too many classes taking care of his sick mother, because his father was too drunk to notice. He’s also a certified genius, and had early acceptance into like 3 UCs after sophomore year of high school.

Lastly, there’s me, Jessica. I’m the lead singer. I’m not really sure what there is to say about me. My younger sister is Noelle, by seven and a half months (I was a month and a half early). I guess that you could say that I’m a party girl; I love to party, but I don’t drink or anything. Not anymore. Not after everything that the band went through last year. In fact, none of us do anything (drinking, drugs, ect.). I’ve had an on and off relationship with Dan for three years (since we were fifteen, about six months before our record deal), but he always ends up with some skank at one of our after-shows.

Looking in at the band that’s made the number one selling CD on the billboards for four months straight, and two weeks later for another two months, two weeks, and three days, you would presume that we all actually want to be musicians, and want to be famous until we die. Well, that’s what everyone thinks. Well, everybody except us, at any rate…
