Beautiful Torment
-
she mentally screams
trapped—
can't find a way out
-
perhaps she should look harder
-
she's emotionally tired
and powerless to stop it
she turns to him for help
-
but only sometimes does he notice
-
rarely does he see
through the barrier of lies
the false smiles; the empty laughs
-
her timeless struggle
-
he leaves her alone
despite her desperate pleas
he thinks nothing is wrong
-
and she never corrects him
-
rather—
she loses herself in sorrow
perceiving she is truly alone
-
this is her autophobia
-
she clings to him tightly
hoping he will silently understand
and stay with her all the while
-
he doesn't; he never does
-
she feels neglected;
unimportant and worthless
she falls deeper
-
something she can't escape
-
she won't tell; won't explain
refusing to bring him down
with her consistent need
-
simply for his presence
-
wishing she could escape
hoping for him to be here
but knowing it can not be so
-
he is her beautiful torment
