The Derivative is an acquaintance of mine
Its an easy way for me to find
The equation of a tangent line.
There are twenty-three total tools I use
When I’m given a problem I have to choose
And I can’t forget or some points I’ll lose.
Four rules are basic, of almost constant use,
Six are for giving trig. functions some juice,
Six more for the inverse of those up above,
Two for exponents and two for our logs.
The chain rule for when there appear more than one,
Implicit when Xs and Ys join for fun.
Log’rithmic is for when X powers itself.
These derivative friends which I keep for myself.
