Sakura all but looked away from the crystal orb sitting within the seer’s chamber. The seer had promised to tell her future and the corresponding images that appeared within the orb were horrifying. There were still images that appeared in the orb which depicted the bloodied corpses of her close friends. Other images showed unwilling intimate acts with a mysterious woman. Malicious jade eyes clashed with her own ocean blue eyes through the glass.
This particular image depicted the frail arms of Sakura wrapped around the woman in the throes of passion. They laid upon the soft sheets of the earth, hidden by the natural guardians of the woods. The next image appeared and this time it showed her with her head tilted back. Since it was only images, it could not express the wild moans that were emitted from her now parted lips. The real Sakura blushed a deep crimson color from embarrassment. The images soon dispersed and her eyes were met with the seer’s.
“Are you troubled by your future?” the seer asked and Sakura responded with a nod, “But this is our predetermined fate. Nothing can change it.”
“You’re wrong…it’s not true…I decide my own fate.”
“Foolish child, have you not comprehended your purpose?”
“What purpose? To live a life that I am unwilling to follow?”
“Your defiance will become your downfall. The gods demand obedience from all of their subjects.”
“These words will not move an atheist, seer.” That was Sakura’s last response before she calmly walked away from the seer’s chamber. The seer lowered her eyes as Sakura left and she whispered, “Oh gods, save the future of our earth from the tainted hands of evil that approaches.’
Sakura made her way back to the grand apartment complex that she shared with her best friend, Yume. Sakura and Yume knew each other since the first grade and remained close to this day, resembling very much the bonds shared between sisters. Since Yume worked at a corporation as a secretary on the other side of town, Sakura was left to take care of the apartment and thus she did all her work from home. Sakura was a general artist that drew things as they came into mind. She did not have to work due to the fact that her father was the CEO of one of the head corporations in competition with Yume’s workplace. Her family was definitely rich but she disliked the idea of things simply being handed to her. Instead, Sakura wanted to work in order to prove her worth.
Taking a pencil in her hand and with a sketchbook laying on her bent knees, Sakura was about ready to draw but instantly stopped as she noticed a figure sitting upon the railing of the apartment balcony. Rising from her relaxed position upon the living room coach, Sakura made her way to the balcony’s sliding glass door. Opening it, the ocean blue eyes once again clashed with a malicious jade. She noticed the gleam that came off from the woman’s hair as the sun radiated its rays upon the strands, creating a visual sensation of creamy honey. It was another clashing difference between the two as Sakura’s hair was as dark as the feathers of a raven.
“What do you want?” Sakura demanded of the woman and a smirk grew upon the woman’s face in response.
“To fulfill the judgment of your fate.” Following her words, a whirlwind of cherry blossoms surrounded them, causing them to vanish from the rest of the world.
Hours later, Yume returned to the apartment to find Sakura nowhere in sight. Frantic, she searched the apartment and discovered the open balcony door. Looking down at the floor of the balcony, she noticed the piles of cherry blossoms that laid there. Raising her head and walking toward the railing, Yume screamed, “Sakura!” However a response would never come as Sakura was no longer a part of this world. The only traces of her existence would live on in the hearts of those that she held dear. Nothing more was necessary. After all, her only purpose was to serve under fate…even if she was unwilling to do so.
A few days later, the dead body of Yume Norazuki was discovered lying on top of the balcony of the apartment complex. Once the police moved her body, they discovered the petals of cherry blossoms covering the balcony floor. Amazement met their eyes because there were no cherry blossom trees with a two mile radius of the apartment complex.
The rain soon fell for the first time in three months. Their mouths opened wide with awe and declared that it was a miracle while the seer looked from atop the apartment complex roof with a saddened face.
