Driven

by fabian cortez

I was respected once

When I started here

So long ago, so

Yesteryear

-

My wife’s support

That got me through

All tests to validate

Ensued, immigrants

Became my life

Our countries poor

Can’t get a life

Or job or anything

But cold & ill

In boxes three

Years old

-

They starved as

Immigrants grew fat

Illegal too, I’d soon

Fix that, so dedicated

All my time

To sort it out their

Life, no not mine

Embittered twisted

By my quest

Abort our child I thought

It best, my wife so

Hates me, I love her

But in my quest

It became spurred

-

My love now lost

I can’t face blame

She loved Brazilian

What’sisname

I’ll get them all

Yes chase them

Out, I’d use the law

It gives me clout

They have no rights

I was born here

-

So catch by night

With moon so clear

She’s there ahead

I’ll catch her now

Across the road

My feet will plough

A vehicle heads

Right into

Me it mows me down

She’s there I plead

My love my life

Yet I’m alone

My breathing laboured

On cold stone
