I will sit here
no longer waiting but
twisting time around my
finger and taking chance
by the hand.
I will make my sky red.
With the paintbrush,
turn the city into a parade
with blue and green buildings
and white houses
and pink shop signs.
I will fill in the night
with ink
and sketch loneliness
onto dimly-lit streets
at midnight.
But it will be a sweet
loneliness of
wistful thoughts and
steamy breath.
I will wander these streets
with chance in the lead
and force my dreams
onto the world I see.
With time wrapped around
my finger I will sketch
each moment
into a lifetime.
I will paint each lifetime
a passionate tale.
I will write each tale
with my own two hands
and ink borrowed from the night.
Where will these hands take me?
