And you are what you are not
Clichés disarray you without justice.

From the mind out, you are misconstrued.
As a label falls away,
Someone left you soaking far too long.
Reluctance yet, and I believe in you.
A psychological construct.
A friend untrue.

No longer next door neighbors,
We’re next door countries.
With a common closeness…
And a distant disappointment

Gather around,
It’s a glorious failure of the imagination,
A trying loss for the undoubtedly triumphant.

I just want you to remember,
At the end of the day,
Fabulous and forgotten
Beautiful and broken
Both have a common consonance.
