The relationship; the romance is gone

He loves her, but cannot keep her happy

She loves him, but cannot fit into his life

They cannot continue, but their love remains

The door; the barrier between them; is not shut

She refused to close it when they parted

At first, she pulls up a chair and watches like a movie

His back is to the door frame

He cannot let her see his loneliness

Gradually, she beings to leave her throne

The movie loses her interest

She still glances through when she passes the place

He glances back from a side profile

They often miss each others' looks

They force themselves to move on, convinced the other has forgotten

Time passes; each loves again; each loses again

With fresh pain from another lover lost, she returns to her place by the door

To be alone, but he is there

He reaches through the doorframe and takes her hand

She falls into his arms once again

A reunion, of sorts

But true reunion cannot happen

When they were never truly gone
