Insanity lies inside those crevices of minds,
Singing the songs of a thousand choking melodies.
They scream in whispers to bring rain on our faces,
“I danced as a willow would, or a flower in bloom,
Who are you, and why would you cut me into tiny pieces?”
I wished those doors, wide open
Morbid, inevitable tales of ferocious woe
Would shut me from that little bud that
Never again would touch blades of sweet, sunlit grass,
But be buried underneath that smothering, glittering snow.
Devils we might very well have been,
What of the ocean’s giving of life
That flows past our eyelids to a cold, hard ground?
What of the beauties that crawled far too slowly,
And when they screamed for a saviour, made not a sound?
Two-legged beasts of prey peruse this face with avaricious eyes,
And fight or flight has only one choice
For this mammal in chains of unflinching, solid steel,
And that choice is to suffer, then to die
Hoping that there will be a willing ear
That loves the lilting song of fizzling death rattle
Uttered in utmost spectacular brilliant grace,
So she might be spared, to sing it once more
For a tyrant, undefied, but defiled.
They never heard the frightening sound
Of the blasphemers who wailed both loudly and mute,
But gazed upon those pretty trinkets
Moving and breathing to suit a horror they never deserved.
They’ll break, and they’ll fall, then who can tell?
Vitality has never been so slow before to love
When they so callously decide
That you’ve had enough, quite enough,
Of that dear little flickering flash of a star
That you know as life.
(By the way, I was listening to Christian Death’s “Luxury of Tears” while I wrote this. It’s an amazing song, so check it out.)
I may expand this, it just depends on what comes to mind.
