Chapter4:

I sighed and took a deep breath of air with which I instantly knew what she was talking about.

Something was coming and it was way to fast to get away from it.

I could feel the cold chill the boy had conjured upon me last night and my shoulders stiffened, going up, as if to curl my body in an attempt to keep myself warm.

It was a point in my life where I felt close to crying.

"I am a poor victim of hard fever," I mouthed, somehow knowing how weak a statement that was.

"Your insanity proves that", the familiar cold voice stated and I opened my eyes to glare at the boy.

"Does it, Lendan", I hissed, suddenly feeling quite aggressive, but the name still put at the end in an uncertain tone.

Ledan leaned back and sneered.

"Still the old Mr. Irony", he grinned.

"Guess so", I answered and took his whole appearance in. Unlike yesterday, his clothes- he had been wearing a plain, white robe- were quiet exquisite, now- smooth, grey pants hugging his slender legs, a white dress shirt almost covered by his black coat, that flung loose down his back and opened wide at his elbows to reveal the bare skin of his arms, only covered in dark leather bracelets.

His hair seemed a little bit less unruly then yesterday and his pale skin was slightly flushed.

The dark eyes bored into mine.

"You changed", he stated and I shrugged it off, for I obviously had no idea in how far I had changed.

"But you're still the same old bastard."

"I don't like you either", I exclaimed matter of factly.

The blush on his face deepened and he took a step towards me, a flame bursting alive in his hand, like the anger in his eyes. I looked at the fire with a blank expression, wondering if I was kind of suicidal, still standing here after having provoked somebody who was most definitely dangerous.

"You seem to be suicidal", Ledan, observed and now it was my turn to sneer, when met with such an irony.

Even before the small sound died in my throat, he flung himself forward, flames bursting from his hands and towards me, who had jumped away rather quickly to my own surprise. He lunged towards me again and the flames in his palms dancing even harder, bristling on his skin and covering him completely, since his rage rose after not getting me. I pressed my feet off the floor and found myself kneeing on the wardrobe, out of the reach of his fire.

He yelled in frustration, we locked eyes, and the moment I could see the smile on his face appear through the fire, I felt two slender hands groping my ankles. I looked down and stared into the ugly, wrinkled face of the creature that had broken his way free out of my wardrobe.

A goblin.

I screamed and tried to get away, falling off the wardrobe, hitting the floor hard, but still with the unwelcome weight on my legs.

I heard Ledan laugh, as I made out some more silhouettes in the dark, all of similar size to the thing holding on to me.

"Hach, Nini...don't try to get away", he giggled.

Fuck, did everybody have his own nickname for me?

"Shut up", I growled and somehow that made him laugh even harder. Luckily, either with the glee or the loss of concentration, the numbers of attackers seemed to decrease.

I shot another random comment at him, but did not watch, as he bend himself over in laughter, instead gathered all my strength and reached out to grasp the door handle. It took me a couple of seconds before I actually made it, but then I pulled myself towards the door and opened it.

As it flung open, it was not the normal hallway I looked at.

Ok, let's say it was still the hallway, but in front of it was a wall of floating water, its waves settling between the doorframe. I stared in shock at the blue, blurry, so fragile looking surface, but the pain in my leg, as another creature took hold of it and bit into my flesh soon got the better of me. I extended my hand and it slipped through easily. I heard Ledan's cry of rage, as he told the goblins not to let me pass the doorframe and knew in an instant that that was what I had to do. I had to get out of this room, away. To get help or something.

I took a deep breath and stuck my head through the water, almost expecting to drown. It let me pass, only touching my check lightly in a comforting manner as if it where alive and at the same time, I felt fire creeping up my body, where Ledan had flung himself onto it.

The fire and the water around me battled and with a yell and a thud, I fund myself on the other side of the doorframe.

Without looking back, driven by the fear that was still circulating through my body, I scrambled to my feet and ran along the hallway and down the stairs, where again, I was met with voices.

Somebody shouted in anger and then a small something bumped into me, causing me to stop.

I cursed and then looked down at the boy that had run into me.

He was about 10 and locked me in a gaze of hazel brown eyes, which I had never seen before.

Then he decided to like me and hid behind my back, when Tanya, my boss and another woman came towards us.

"Samuel, please, not again" she exclaimed in despair.

The boy smiled up at me and tugged at my trousers, which where, to my surprise, still in one piece and showed no sign of the attack that I had just been under.

Somehow, I couldn't do anything else but smile back.

and the end of another chapter...little Sam is finally here and I must say the next chapters will be a little bit more...normal and non-magical...sorry if you're disappointed...

And will you review, please?!!!
