"One Lonely Tree"

this town keeps me proded
and sucks out all the life
but if there's no construction
there's no reason to survive
the buildings they go up
and the payroll it comes down
and when they cut down the one lonely tree
for the property
does it even make a sound?

we've all been called to arms
in our old world american way
but what happened to security and alarms?
those were the days
and commenting on global warming
can sometimes be our media's phase
though i'm sure they won't believe it
through the dense fog infront of their face

that one tree that was standing
kept the sun from my skin
kept me from believing in the heaven's above
making me guess where my mind has been
but i'm still rolling with the thought
that no one will descend from the sky
infact, they'll probably take one look as they visit
and just keep flying by
