You’ve forgotten to breathe again.

Tears covered your face, dripping down (it’s not blood, no sir, not at all, too young and innocent for that)

And you’re gasping for air, for

Love and forgiveness

Just to let them see that the only pain you feel

Is the pain of their everlasting love that slipped away

And wondering how something as beautiful as this could ever end

(Only one reason, you’re broken and bleeding as you lie on the floor)

You’ve bled all over their brand-new carpet

Staining their souls for eternity

But no way could it have ever been possible

That you could have done something wrong

(You’re only ten, damnit, just trying to find a way in the world)

And wondering how they could ever hate you

As you blame yourself for all the mess

(Messed up their carpeted souls)

Not breathing, not breathing

(I can’t breathe, Mommy, I can’t breathe!)

She’s panicking, she’s panicking

Hyperventilating, sobbing.

“I don’t hate you Mommy, please, Mommy, please!”

“It’s okay, sweetie, I know, just breathe.”

(I can’t breathe now.)

Please, Mommy. Please.
