Loneliness

Loneliness is the color of gray fog lingering on a

cold dreary morning.

It smells like a sodden swamp,

and tastes of blood and bitter chocolate.

Loneliness is the sound of the crickets and peeper

frogs crying on an empty, silent night,

and it feels like sitting in the middle of a lake

with nothing but the moon’s reflection on the

dark, deep, water of a black endless oblivion.
