We were on a green bridge

And the lights of home were winking

Against the water they reflected still

the boats that sailed off sinking.

Took no glance behind us

And the road was unforgiving

Deaths that never reached the headlines

because there were too many.

Oh beautiful little fireflies

Brilliant night sky

in the flames and smoke was mirrored,

the lost look in your eyes.

The pain was temporary

and the loss was superficial

No one there could bring themselves

to even cry a little.

Burn it to the ground he said

as he lit aflame the cartons

Hotel Belville burnt down that night

No one cared that it was arson.
