The black and white keys
Call to her
She has no hesitation as she approaches
Sits down
And lets her fingers glide across the keys

She plays an old song, again
Her fingers singing
Creating melody
On the black and white keys

A spirit freed in a magical land
A musical land
Where her talent is free to play
To sing
Without any judgement

After years of guilt and hesitation
Of avoiding the piano
Ignoring her voice and hiding
Behind the flute
She is building them up again

But, the melodies, however sweet
Remain locked away in her house
Like haunted tunes
And are only play in the musical land
Where no one can judge them

No one can compare them
No one can criticise them unjustly
If they are never heard
In the outside world
Out of her room
