In today’s so called “equal” society, many people like to think that the subject of racism doesn’t exist. With all the influence of the media, internet and various other extensions of public opinion…we are led to believe that it is a thing of the past. Well with my observations, opinions and experiences I can tell you it is very much alive and in some aspects thriving. To get down to the “nitty gritty” so to speak, this essay will focus on a different kind of racism than what you might already be thinking of. When the word racism is spoken, images of white hoods, swastikas and burning crosses may spring to mind. But one might to stop to think those images are not the soul of racism, but the origins of it.

Now some define racism as many different things such as prejudice against sexual lifestyle, music style or even cultural background. But these are misleading, there is a very clear separation of prejudice and racism. In other words racism is always prejudice, but prejudice is not always racism. To be racist is to despise someone’s race, not their cultural, sexual or musical style. To put it quite simply, it’s the hatred of someone’s skin color. Now I will ask you to think back for a moment. In the many thousands of years of history in the story of human beings, when did the hatred of the skin color actually come in? In the earliest days people have hated each other over religion, politics or culture. But who actually introduced the color factor to the equation? That distinction can only be claimed by one group of people. It can even be said that whites invented modern day racism. The facts cannot be ignored as they stand. The Ku Klux Klan, Nazism, Civil Rights, the Trail of Tears, The Black Plague, the atomic bomb, the slaughter of the Incas and Aztecs etc…all can be attributed to one race of people and all can be boiled down to one simple factor…color(and greed on the part of the Spaniards and English).

My point here to address the rising up tide of racism against whites. Many people condemn it as being just as bad as the hatred whites showed to all other races. But is it really? When one really thinks about it, the hatred whites are receiving today is merely a reaction. Can people really be so naive to think that there wouldn’t be animosity amongst the so called minorities against the very people who hated them. To me that just doesn’t seem logical. Physical law even states that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction, so why is it so difficult to comprehend that colored people still hold contempt in their hearts for what their ancestors endured.

Many would like to use the generation argument, stating that the people who committed the crimes are long dead and the ones who descended from them shouldn’t be held accountable for their forefather’s actions. However there is an old saying “The son must pay for the sin’s father…” For the past to be truly let go, a clean slate must be achieved. I don’t think that can ever happen by simply burying the past as so many people seem to have done. Is it vengeance or justice…maybe it’s both. Millions of innocent people died needlessly at the hands of white Europeans for no cause and no reason, for none other than the fact of their skin color. Not to point an accusing finger, but the white race has much to answer for and not to many alibis to fall back on. Voices would cry out and say “You cannot fight hate with hate!” But both Ghandi and Dr. King tried the peaceful approach and it got them a bullet to the head. If it had ended at the final days of the civil war, it might have been forgotten. But a few decided to sew together white bed sheets and burn crosses and continue the feud to this day. Many white people ninety years later decided to bend a cross and declare themselves as the “master race” among men. They decided to invent terms such as nigger, spic and injun to insult people who had a darker skin tone, and for all this the other races are expected to simply forget and show no sign of retaliation. Is it any wonder that the white race is getting a dose of it’s own medicine.

Is reverse racism and the hatred of white race a blatant and spiteful lie designed to target the descendants of those who committed such atrocious crimes…or is it a simply a cold truth that falls to one side? That is indeed the question.
