You know, those times when
you just know, there's
no question in your mind about
why you aren't cold, or
why it doesn't matter about your clothes, or
why your body seen in
fabric that looks like cling wrap
for some reason doesn't bother you
(even without the six pack)-
you just know that
there is God, and that
the love is unconditional,
there's no requirements, no footnotes,
it's just
pouring down around you, and
slipping down inside of you,
saturating and you know that
your heart will never shiver, have those
midnight shakes that used to take us;
they will never come again,
drowned out by
thunder and a flood that washes
every crevice clean of
anything we couldn't say.

This is one of those times, those times when
you just know, there's
no question in your mind, you know that
God is in the rain, that
you will never shake or shiver in your
battered soul again, and that
in the morning we will have
roses as reminders of
the truth we've always known.
