Daddy
Author:
Rose of Truth PM
From the eyes of a little girl. A painful story about how she feels because her daddy's never around. I'm quite impressed with this poem.

Daddy

Daddy don't you love me?

Daddy don't you care?

Why are you never home?

Because Mummy's always there.

Mummy always hugs me

Mummy wants to know

How my day was

But you're not even home

Daddy where do you go?

Why aren't I important?

Is it because I'm not very smart?

I'm sorry I'll try to be better.

Why aren't you like other daddy's?

Who take their daughters out

You never take me out

To parks or fairs

Daddy are you ashamed of me?

Because I haven't done anything wrong

Mummy tells me you're always working

Why do you work so hard?

All the other girls have stories

About their daddies

They laugh when I tell mine

About when you hit me hard

Daddy I wish I could understand

But Mummy says you've gone for good

She says we're better off this way

And daddy, I think Mummy's right.
