NOTE: I wrote this villanelle last year in English class about something repetative: rain. It kind of reminds me of my other story, Elements of our Days. Sorry for my lack of updates, maybe this will make up for it. For those of you who have never read it, enjoy! See my other poetry (if you dare) at DeviantArt (my username is miomo). Fear the poetry. And the photos.

Watching the Rain

Gaze out the window, transfixed by the rain,
Nothing can draw away entranced eyes,
The deep connection with this endless pain.

The drops fasten the mind like a metal chain,
No breaking away from these inescapable ties;
Gaze out the window, transfixed by the rain.

Touching the cold glass of the windowpane,
Wondering why even the great sky cries;
The deep connection with this endless pain.

Watching the drops fall again and again,
As dependable as the sun’s morning rise.
Gaze out the window, transfixed by the rain.

Why the waters holds her, she can not explain
As each drop plinks, she hears their spirits die.
The deep connection with this endless pain.

Eventually, as the drops start to wane,
Wondering what was the point of demise,
Gaze out the window, transfixed by the rain.
The deep connection with this endless pain.
