Prologue: Kimi, Abandoned

It was raining, the dark of night. Two people in hooded cloaks were the only ones out that night. One was a man the other, a woman. They carried a small child, a girl, barley a month old. The baby was sleeping soundly unaware of where these two were taking her. Only a few months before, the young girl was born to the king and queen of Mesania.

A dark claded man paced about his chambers in the castle’s basement. He had been doing this for a few hours, trying to come up with a plan. “I need a good plan in order for this to work!”

There was a husband and wife who stood there at attention, watching the man pace around the room. “Sir, we don’t even know where this Hero is,” the husband said.

“Yes, sir, we must find the Hero first in order to take his powers from him” the wife added.

The dark claded man stopped. “The Hero can only be that of royal blood of one of the countries of Mevera. It is simple, all we have to do is go to all the new born princes and if they react to the spell, then that’s them, ha, it’s so simple!”

“What if the Hero is already born and in hiding?” asked the young woman.

The dark man thought for a moment, “No, it can’t be. Something tells me he is not.”

“Maybe it is Mesania’s prince sir,” said the other man.

The dark man stopped. An evil grin spread across his face. The prince was still a young child, one year younger than the newly born princess. There was still a chance that Prince Elliot could be the Hero. The man hurried up the stairs. “Let us find out!”

The three were stopped by the King of Mesania, “You, I need you to come greet the priest who has come all the way from the holy land of Tensi to welcome our daughter into this world and give the blessings of the Five Holy Ones.”

The dark man murmered a curse under his breath then smiled, “Yes milord.” He bowed his head and walked towards the throne room. When he reached there, the priest was running towards the door.

“My, praise the Holy Ones, I have found the Hero of Mevera!”

The man stepped in front of the young priest, smiling evilly, “so this, Hero, who is he?”

The priest eyed him suspiciously, “I cannot tell you. I must inform my leaders and then the King and Queen.” The priest pushed by the man, who grabbed the priest by the arm and pulled him close.

“You will tell me now, even if I have to force it out of you!” The man dragged the priest down to his chamber in the castle basement.

For days, the priest faced endless torture. The dark claded man would not sleep until he had the answer. Finally, the priest spoke, “A-alright, I’ll tell you!”

The two stopped by the river. “Ok, Nami, throw her in.” the man said.

“Oh Darin, she’s just a baby, I can’t kill her!” Nami exclaimed.

“It’s the master’s orders!” Darin exclaimed.

“No, no, no, let’s just give her to someone, and say we can’t take care of her.” Nami suggested.

“We aren’t even her parents!” Darin growled.

“We’ll act like we are!” Nami exclaimed, “If we kill her, I’ll feel guilty for the rest of my life! Please, my love!” Her pleading was pathetic, but Darin gave in.

“Alright, let’s hurry.” Darin said.

Nami and Darin ran through the pouring rain, looking for a house that did not recognize the little girl. She was the king’s daughter, and many people recognized her. Eventually, they crossed into the country of Nezara. They came across the home of the country’s most well known swordsman. They left the child there on the footsteps and left a note with her.

Soon it stopped raining; Shaman woke up early to train and found a shivering child on the footsteps. He picked her up and looked at her, a note dropped from her blanket. He picked up the note and read it. After he was finished, he looked at the small girl and took her inside.

Over the years, Shaman started to train her to wield a sword. She was only five when she started. Her name was Kimi. As she grew older, her skills improved rapidly. Shaman had decided to move to the small village of Naria where Kimi could train with other swordsman.

Kimi became a skilled swordsman over the years. She led the village’s army to stop bandits from raiding the town and helped in small battles on the plains of Kenis. Shaman was very proud of his Kimi, but he thought it was time he tell her the truth. Tell her that he was not her father, and tell her what he knew about her parents.

“All I know is what I learned from this note, Kimi.” Shaman said, taking out the note from a desk drawer.

Kimi took the letter and read it.

Dear resident(s),

Please take care of our beloved Kimi. We are unable to take care of her due to some unfortunate circumstances. Please let her grow up to be a beautiful healthy woman, thank you.

Kimi’s parents

“According to that letter, your parents must have been very poor to be unable to care for you. They only wanted what’s best for you.” Shaman said. “By the way, this is for you.” Shaman handed Kimi a letter.

“What’s this?” Kimi asked.

“It’s a letter from the king regarding your swordsmanship.” Shaman explained.

Kimi opened the letter and read it.

Mistress Kimi,

I am inviting you to come to the castle in the city of Nevarea to join my army. We could use a swordsman of your ability. I have prepared a room and everything for you, seeing as I doubt you will decline such a valuable offer. Please come as soon as possible, I am looking forward to meeting you.

King Menos of Nezara

“W-wow, an invitation to the castle!” Kimi exclaimed.

“I recommended you.” Shaman explained. “I told him you were trained by me, and that you had become very skilled. Menos and I go back a long way to when I still worked in the army, he knows how well I train others, so he has no doubt that you are just a good. Well then you should be on your way.”

“Ah, yes sir! Shaman, I-I’ll miss you so very much!” Kimi said. Shaman smiled. Kimi was so excited that she forgot about her lost parents. She packed up and left her beloved Shaman.
