Happiest Day

The nervous jitters,
The feeling of panic.
You wonder
Can I really do this?
The rustle of silk
Each time that you move.
Your mother is smiling
Through all of her tears.
Your father suffers
From a sudden allergy attack.

You're packing madly
as the minutes fly by.
Before you know it
It's time.

The chapel doors open,
You look up and see
He's as nervous as you.
Your father offers his arm.
The walk down the aisle
Goes by in a blur.

The vows are exchanged.
The rice is thrown.
The dancing and cheers
Go by in a flash.
Despite all the tears
This is the happiest day.
