"I saw that you changed your status to in a relationship today." The boy added in slyly to the girl on the phone.
"Mmhmm." The girl murmured and smiled a bit to herself. "And?"
"So who is this guy so I can go kick his ass?" The boy chuckled jokingly.
"Oh, it’s this total dork who came in and stole my heart without me realizing it."
"Dork eh? Maybe I'll take pity on him."
"Oh really now?"
"Heh, yeah."
"Well that’s good, because I really like this one and I'm planning on keeping him for a while."
"Really now. So when did you realize you loved this boy..."
"Oh for some time now. Way back in August is when I realized it."
"How'd you realize that, did he do something?"
"Nope. I was just talking to him one day and it was like 'Oh man, I love him.' and that was the end of it."
"I guess it’s a good thing that I know that boy likes you back."
"Oh really now? How long has the boy liked the girl?" The girl hoped her voice stayed steady as her heart quickened pace.
"Since the first time he heard the girls laugh. He knew there was just something different about her. Something he didn't want to lose."
"When did the boy really realize he loved her?"
"Probably when he blurted it out the first time after he'd done something stupid. He heard the tears in the girl’s voice and realized that she might turn away from him and he wouldn't have been able to deal with that. He realized then that he truly loved her."
"If he'd known before then why didn't he tell her?"
"Actually he had several times. He'd whisper it to see how she would react but the girl never heard him."
"Really?" Her voice waved.
"Really." He said quietly. "If the girl loved him, why didn't she say so before then?"
"She was afraid. Afraid that he didn't feel the same and would get freaked out and never talk to her again. She was afraid he'd walk away and she knew she wouldn't have been able to bare with it." She paused for a second and heard the boy's sigh. "Why did the boy wait so long to tell the girl he wanted to be with her?"
"The girl had mentioned things about guys she liked at school, and he figured she was chasing after them. Also, he too was afraid. He was afraid she'd laugh at him and turn him down flat out." He laughed a bit at her exaggerated sigh. "Well, why didn't she ask the boy out?"
"Actually, she had started to several times then stopped herself because she remembered the boy saying several times that he didn't want a relationship at the point in time, that he needed a brake because his heart had been abused to many times."
"Stupid" He muttered to himself in a scolding tone and the girl laughed.
"And also because the girl was holding on to the romantic notion of the guy being the one to ask first."
"Lame." At her protests he laughed. "But cute."
"Mmm..." She smirked a bit into her pillow.
"I love you."
"And I love you." She murmured and looked up at the moon outside of her window and knew that he was doing just the same.
