I’m not ready for High School, I think. I’m not pretty enough.

I stand up and went to the mirror. Ugh. My ugly, thin, wavy hair is the problem. Why couldn’t I look more like Nicole or Tammy or somebody? Nicole has that beautiful straight dark hair and Tammy has the big blue eyes and curly, blonde hair. I’ve always been jealous of them. But nope, I’m me, just plain Carly.

They don’t talk to me anymore. Well okay, Middle School they did. It was fun. Easy. We all were mixed together and there weren’t big groups of the Jocks or the Nerds. It was just sixth, seventh, and eighth graders. Nicole, Tammy and I were best friends. Up until eighth grade when both of them got boyfriends both on the basketball team. I became too dorky for them that day.

Then their boyfriends made fun of me too. June first, eight days before we got out of school, was the day that rumor got back to me. The rumor that said I was in love with Mr. Stosts, the boring and quite old history teacher. I’m sure it’ll move on to ninth grade too.

Ninth grade starts in three days. Like I’ll get my reputation up in that amount of days… Sometimes I talk to Nicole and Tammy online. You know, they’re the people your Mom still things you’re best friends with, even though you tell her they hate you, but you still have to talk to them somewhat. Mom always tells me to tell them she says “Hello”. Fun.

Mom driving me to school the last day: You never hang out with Tammy or Nicole anymore. Why’s that?

Me sitting in passenger seat: They’re evil and they hate me.

Mom pulling into school: Don’t be such a drama queen, Carly.

I get out of the car. It’s not worth it – fighting over something she’d never understand. I didn’t tell her the rumor. She’d just get involved and then like home school me or something. Hmm… This actually wouldn’t be too bad considering my reputation.

I’ll have to wait for the next rumor to go around, and then I’ll consider telling Mom.

My schedule.

My first period is my homeroom. It’s a pointless 20 minute class just to finish homework or sit there. I don’t know why they keep it. It just makes sixth period only forty minutes.

Second period is History. Oh great.

Third is English, my favorite class. I love to write.

Fourth, Spanish.

Fifth, Algebra 2. I took Pre-Algebra in seventh so I went into advanced math, Algebra, with Tammy and Nicole in eighth grade. I bet I’ll have math with them this year too.

Sixth is Biology.

Finally seventh is Art.

I pull a snack out of the pantry. I went to the couch and flicked on the T.V.

“Honey,” My mom says walking into the room. “Let’s go to the mall! This’ll be fun! We’ll buy you new clothes for school!” She’s all ‘happy’. I groan. “Oh please, please, please.” I sigh.

“Fine.” I get up and grab a hoodie. I pull it over my head and walk out the front door. We get in the car. I flip on the radio and get comfortable. We start driving, and my mom turns it off.

Me: Mom! I was listening to that!

Mom: I thought we could talk on the way there. We never talk anymore. What happened to Nicole and Tammy over the summer?

Told you she always asks.

Me: I told you. They hate me. I hate them. We aren’t friends.

I flick the radio on loud and look out the window. I told her this already.

We get to the mall and I go straight to my favorite store; PacSun.

“No, no, honey. We’re going to this one first.” Mom says. We walk into some cutesy “Clarisse’s” and it’s full of all this cutesy crap! I think I’m going to puke!

Let me tell you about my life. I have an older brother, and his name is Brendon. We’re pretty close, because we’re far apart in age. He’s nineteen and moved out. I’m fourteen and ready to drop out. Mom’s pregnant, and I think that’s pretty cool. Mom’s always working and so is Dad, even on weekends, so I think that baby is going to be a problem… But I’ll love him / her to death. I’ll be the one to take care of it a lot; I already know. Maybe he / she will live with Brendon. He / She were an accident.

Since Brendon’s my only brother, I’m a middle-ish kid between Tom-Boy and Average Girl. Never Girly Girl. Just average Girl. I talk to Brendon all the time though. He says he’ll have to approve of all my boyfriends. I told him I’ll have to approve of all his girlfriends then.

I don’t tell him I don’t approve of his current one.

When we get home from the mall, it’s late, my feet hurt so I go to my room. I can’t believe I actually left my phone home when we went to the mall. People say my phone is attached to my hip, but even though it pretty much is, it annoys me when people say that.

I flick on my T.V and put a DVD in since I don’t have cable. I’ve seen our movies probably at least 10 times each. It’s pretty boring.

Two days later.

A/N: I know this chapter kind of dragged on but when the second chapter comes, please read on. Review too. Umm I don’t really want flames but whatever you want. I’d really appreciate it if you don’t swear though.
