Once you start watching the news,

You can no longer be a kid.

You either wonder what's happening,

Or start worrying about it.

I watched the news tonight,

A few things were mentioned.

That should never have come,

To a child's attention.

A three year old was killed,

Just sitting in the car,

I guess it really doesn't matter,

Where the heck you are.

Another thing added to the mess,

About some future plans.

Our government is going to test

A random pick military draft.

The test goes into effect when I turn 17,

So if the draft takes,

My name will be on the list,

The next year when I turn 18.

I don't get to be a kid,

I have to worry about the draft,

Think about that little girl,

Who will never grow up fast.

Sure the news informs me,

But should I really know?

I don't get to be free of worry,

As the words on the screen flow.
