It Has Become The Past.

A broken heart
A million tears
A brand new start
To end the year

Looking back,
When she said goodbye
Remembering the times
That she would cry.

The mistakes and lessons
Would come and go
Her strengths and weaknesses
She would always show

For our scars remind us
Where we have been
And her past, in photos
Is hardly seen.

People and places
That time will tell
Of hopes and dreams
And sad farewells

New beginnings
And making friends
She's finally happy
Come this year's end.

How do you sum up the year gone by?
In loneliness, happiness, depression or smiles?
With exams, or lessons, work or a speech
Hope and hopelessness, or places you've reached?

Realities you face
Will leave you a mark
It's not on your body
It's inside your heart

The pain that she's felt
Has burst at the seams
And out billows love
As she chases her dreams

Laughter is ecstasy
And she smiles every day
Because she'll prove them wrong
She's here to stay

Her friends will protect her
With their strong shield of love
And a sword that's called laughter
Sent from above

She's a whole new person
From the year that's passed
And she's simply herself
With friends who'll last

The problems you encounter along the way
Must be faced with dignity, and do not delay

The key to a fresh, and happy new year?
Love big, laugh hard. 2007's here.
