Subtle, tired darkness come grudgingly,
Unanticipated nightfall in a dimly lit world.
No wind offers her voice in comfort,
No child cries out in fear.
Too-warm stillness breaks a sweat.
In tortured candlelight: a man seeking chaos
Driven mad by the silence.
He beats at it with his fists, and silence screams to be left alone.
