Illusions of Water

I've wandered endlessly in open fields without any end,

and watched as water sprayed down little waterfalls,

You look into cool water and are unable to see into your surroundings,

I join you by the water's side and finally realize,

that everything was all but an illusion,

I woke up as if lightning had struck the earth,

on the floor I see my grey sheets laying like a mound of dirt,

I walk down the stairs and find that no one is home,

and the air has chilled to the warmth of a freezer,

I walked to the window and my eyes met a darkened sky,

with stray rays of light floating about,

calmly I lay on the couch to only wake up again.

I woke up in a room I soon recognized,

a cell where I was prisoner of war,

was it because of who I am?

I stared out and saw jade staring back,

the person blinked and walked right out,

and I laid back to watch the rain pouring down,

the water splashed across the window and,

it reminded me of the waterfall,

yet--this water was so different,

and soon the other guards walked out as well,

to return to their homes--so I stood up,

but realized that I was alone--I was inside an illusion.
