Author's Note: One day, when hanging out with my boyfriend, I came to the conclusion that he had the prettiest colored skin I'd ever seen before. He's Indian and it was just this amazing color. So I wrote about it. In short, this poem is a true story.

Your skin
was a
carmel,
chocolatey
deliciousness;
a flawless,
velveteen
beauty of a skin,
unlike any I’d ever
run my fingers across.
Your breathing was heavy
as I touched your cheek,
traced your jawbone
with my fingertips.
I was just white,
like every other Caucasian girl,
but you told me that I was
a creamy,
honey-colored
scrumptiousness.
I guess you saw me
differently
from everyone else.
