And sometimes I think that I might miss

you?

No, no, not you, the way you tugged your sweater.

Or maybe it was your awkward smile?

That must’ve been it, I’m sure of it.

It can’t be the way you looked in the moonlight

Or the graceful way your hair fell out of place.

And I can promise you I’ll never miss

That rainy night in October

Where we stood so not apart

And it became the first of my thinking

That maybe I’d like to stay this way (so not apart)

Would you mind if we pretended

for a little, not too long

That our mission was not to avoid

Each other (and the things that remind us)

And maybe then it’d be okay

For me to grab your hand

And tell you that you’re beautiful

But mostly when you lick your lips and smile (awkward style)
