The Dragon Lady

by Ancient History Lover

Intro

This story is set in the medieval ages, a time when dragons roamed the earth. This is a story about a girl who was born into nobility but didn’t want it. She ran away from home, and met a traveling band of gypsies who except her into their clan. The girl then saw the gypsies fortune teller, and the fortune teller told her that she is ruler of all dragons. What happens after that...well, you’ll have to find out yourself...

Prologue

“I wonder what gift Augustyna is going to give our precious newborn daughter.” A noblewoman named Aasera Breann Aliz, asked her husband, Adalberto Acanda Aliz, “Gift of a name for her I hope!” said with a laugh, for Aasera had given birth to her a week ago and they hadn’t thought of a name. “Augustyna has always been a good friend to us, I’m sure her gift will be wonderful.” Adalberto said.

A few moments later, there was a knock at the door, “Oh that must be her!” Aasera exclaimed, “Alvina, open the door and let her in.” she told the household maid. So the maid went to the door and let the woman in.

The woman’s full name was, Augustyna Andie Ameera. She was, what they called, The Dragon Lady. The Dragon Lady was the ruler of all the dragons in the world. The Dragon Lady had great powers, she could take any of the four elements (earth, water, fire, or air), and change them into any animal she wanted, she was also skilled in warfare. And she always carried a cane that had a silver dragon head on it.

“We are so glad you came!” Aasera said, giving Augustyna a hug.

“I am glad to be here, oh! The meaning of your name is most definitely true about you, Aasera!” Augustyna said, for Aasera’s name meant “Virtuous enchanting beauty of Noble Birth”.

“Oh...” Aasera said bashfully, “Please come and sit down.”

“Thank you,” Augustyna replied, “but I would like to see your daughter before anything else.”

“Oh! Of course!”Adalberto said, and went to get his daughter out of her cradle.

“He is a good father, isn’t he.” Augustyna said

“Yes. He is an excellent father.” Aasera repied, and Adalberto came back with his newborn daughter and placed her in Augustyna’s arms.

“She is absolutely gorgeous!” Augustyna exclaimed, “What is her name?”

“Well, we haven’t found the one we like yet. We hoping in a way that you would help us.” Adalberto said

“Of course! I did have one in mind, just in case. Damiana Asabi Aliz.” Augustyna said

“Damiana Asabi Aliz...I like it!” Adalberto said

“So do I!” said Aasera said, “What does it mean?”

“It means, Dragon Tamer, being of choice birth and of noble kind.” She said

“Dragon Tamer?” Aasera said questioningly

“Yes. That Is the gift I am going to bestow upon her, my place as the Lady of Dragons.” Augustyna told them

“If this means that you will take her away from us right now, I won’t allow it!” Adalberto said.

“No! I would never do that! When she gets older, she must find out and become the Dragon Lady on her own.” Augustyna reassured them

“Augustyna, if that is your gift, we gladly except it!” Aasera said

“Wonderful!” Augustyna said. Still cradling the baby in her arms, she took her finger and placed it on baby Damiana’s ankle. When she removed her finger a small figure of a dragon was on the ankle.

“This will signify that she is the next heir to the Dragon Throne, when she is old enough, she will sit upon it.” Augustyna said handing the baby back to Aasera. “My work here is done. Now I must go. Farewell.” she said

“Good bye! And thank you!” Both Adalberto and ?Aasera said as they watched Augustyna fly away on a big, black Dragon.
