Prologue
Lives will be changed,
For the better or for the worst,
Revealing a time of peace and war,
Where in the midst of crisis,
Will something arise from the depths,
Of the homeland of a young king,
Gifted upon the unknown,
Will be the hidden power of Light,
The travels will start,
With danger and confusion,
With courage and determination,
Life hangs in the balance,
And yet the gifts of all will be called,
Into betrayal…
Dask laid in darkness for years, but one could tell that it had once seen light. Unlike its sister country of Ekete, it sat in seclusion, and had a far greater amount of people because of the high rate of crime and corruption. The cities were crowded with people, lined with filth and thieves. Down every dead end hid a secret meeting, filled with people who believed in the prophecy, or filled with people who wanted to prevent this prophecy from happening.
These people were mainly thieves and a meager amount of them received gifted powers of their homeland. These thieves who had obtained this gift were usually high ranked in their gang. Some obtained extraordinary powers, only seen by the few descendents of Eketians who decided to move into this dark country. Few Dastians were given the powers of the Shadows, Invisibility, Mind Reading, Psychic Abilities, and a rare amount were given Manipulation. Eketians were given the elemental gifts of nature such as Fire, Water, Wind, and Earth, but never pure Light. Some had more than one; maybe one from each branch of magic inherited by their parents. Unusual people scattered across the nation acquired powers only they would know about.
For the past few decades, the royal psychics of King Lasp were receiving strange visions of light. There were a total of seven psychics, each in their fifties, chosen for their experience and wit. Every one of them was bestowed a piece of the prophecy to remember, but they were missing the last and final piece.
This last piece of the prophecy was never heard. Slowly, the psychics died away, passing their memories and powers over to their offspring, and only the few who stayed in the palace ever knew of its existence. King Crantos, son of King Lasp, sat on his throne in grief, wondering what could possibly happen next. At the age of seventeen, the thought of the future bugged him tremendously, but only time would tell. He replayed the whole prophecy in his head, the words that he had heard his father mumble everyday.
The prophecy stated that a child would be born on the lands of Dask and would receive the power of Light. As this child grows, its power would grow too. This posed a threat to the already corrupted country and the main question was whether this child would use it for good or evil. This one question and fact remained in the thoughts of Crantos, troubling his dreams as well as his life.
That time of birth was only a few days away.
