Blank Ticket (Prelude)
Just like the lyrics in their heads, the air about one particular set of girls was both melancholy and rebellious. One with her head bent over beads, the other head in hand as she contemplated the words on the screen before her. Neither said a word, but then again, shadows so in tune with one another have no need for simple phrases of sound. They would chuckle every now and then at the myriad of thoughts that rippled through their heads, explaining as they did so to the other, but at times a very real longing would cross those young faces. They longed for the ones that they all but worshipped, for the love that both felt they’d never be able to receive…both felt deeply and completely alone in the world.
No…they weren’t truly alone, there were of course friends and family to buoy their sinking hearts on across the waters; but there was no understanding. Those hearts couldn’t stand the constant attacks on their failing and falling walls; their dark wings could no longer draw them into the night for escape…neither one wanted to fall to their demons without at least knowing the touch of love, be it unrequited or not. And so they decided, together, that they’d at least try and fight for the chance to change their stars…after all, everyone deserves a chance, right?
Something tells me that writing these will ensure my demise…I predict that it will take ten years before I EVER finish a story…oh well. R&R, like usual please!
Laters,
KD
