The Tower
-----
Locked away in the tall tower.
It wasn't always this way. It went as every story went. She loved a handsome young boy, but he was different. He looked strong and fierce, but he was shy and gentle. He never harmed her, could not imagine it, even. He loved her completely, and she loved him back.
They were found out, as every story goes. He was sent away, exhiled, and she was locked in a tall tower. She waited for him, but he never came. She was hopeful, at first, still young and full of love. Then she grew nervous, worrying for her love's safety. After time passed by she became angry and bitter, cursing his name.
Everyone forgot about her, and she forgot herself. The forest grew wild around her tower, ivy and grass shoving through each crack. Poison oak and poison ivy grew over the wooden door and around the window. She grew just as wild and fierce. Her hair was impossibly tangled, dreadlocking itself. Her gentle, violet eyes became feral and her bodywas horribly pale from no sun.
She was wild animal locked in a small room. She howled at night, feasting on small birds during the day. She learnt to talk to wolves, snarling at them to go away and whimpering pitiably for them to stay.
Her white hair grew longer, a wonderful sight of matted hair in natural dreadlocks. She slept on the grass that grew abundant on the stone floor, in between two growing trees. Flowers, small and large, perfumed the air, a distant comfort from days long forgotten.
She lived in her tower within her own tiny forest, her wild garden. She was the beautiful maiden that everyone wished for, but no longer believed in. She stayed within that tower forever, forgotten and lost, refusing to die till she was finally found by the world.
