Chapter VI: Mizucha

“What… what… happened” grumbled Hantak as he regained consciousness.

“Where did Chodin go?” asked Talac who had also just gotten up.

“I cut his hand off with my axe ad punched him in the face, but I don’t really remember what happened next. I think he ran away.” explained Hantak as he rose to his feet and looked around, “Hey, where’s Kaslan?”

“It looks like you two are up.” said Kaslan who was walking back with his pack full of some fruits, vegetables, mushrooms, pouches of water, a few herbs, and other supplies he had gathered. “We should continue to Nattok, soon.”

Suddenly, Talac remembered the scroll he shot out of Chodin’s pocket, “Hey look what I took from Chodin!” Talac pulled the arrow with the scroll out the tree. Kaslan calmly walked over to him and took it before he could open it.

“Magic this powerful is not meant for those who aren’t ready,” said Kaslan, as he tucked the scroll away into his pack along with the food and water. Talac seemed to understand what Kaslan meant and didn’t make a comment.

After they healed their wounds, ate a hardy breakfast from the foods that Kaslan had gathered earlier, packed up their supplies and remaining food, and continued on their journey to Nattok.

However, since they were teleported directly above the cave by Kaslan’s spell, there was no path to follow, the path was in the distant mountains to the east, and yet Kaslan knew in which direction to travel. After about three hours of nonstop walking, the group decided to take a short break.

“How much farther will it be before we reach a road, Kaslan?” asked Hantak.

“About-“ Kaslan couldn’t finish because a voice interrupted.

A robed Jiked female slowly walked over to them, "Excuse me," A slight hint of false innocence was in her voice, "I'm lost. Would you help me?"

Talac smiled and started to walk toward the robed woman.

Kaslan grabbed his shoulder and yanked him back.

"Ah! What was that for?!"

"She's an assassin!”

"I am not an assassin! I am simply lost!"

"Look at her, she doesn't have any weapons, she couldn't be an assassin." said Talac.

“Talac, trust me, I’m not lying, she is an assassin!”

“You should believe Kaslan, knowing him, he’s telling the truth,” supported Hantak.

"I swear to our lord," she eyed Kaslan at this, "That I do not have any weapons."
