Faulty Hierachy

The General Idea

Ah, Luci has appeared with the summary! Not that I'm the only writer! This is a collaboration piece from afk and Luci-chan's Lunchbox of Doom. This is an apocalyptic fantasy. Read: most characters will die. But worry not, it shall be an interesting journey there.

The main character (although she appears the least... Isn't that a kick in the pants?) is a girl by the name of Liana Ripnu. She is the subject of the Prophecy of Elar, which fortells the end of the universe. Naturally, everyone wants to destroy her to stop the prophecy from coming true.

The story as a whole is an examination of the creatures and how they interact with each other in accordanence with the hierarchy, the war, the downfall of the entire universe, and the rise of the one who will start the world over. It's a story of love, hate, prejudice, betrayal, loyalty, and relations on a massive scale. It should be fun.

The Universal Hierarchy is divided into three levels: Celestial (Heaven), Terrestrial (Earth), and Sub-Terrestrial (Hell, or in this story, Sheol).

The Celestial Hierarchy is ruled by the Trinity (Father, Son, Holy Ghost). After them comes the seraphs, then cherubs, then thrones, then dominations, then virtues, then powers, then principalities, then archangels, then angels. Last are the death angels. They place last only because they are created angels, as opposed to organic. Human souls reside in the celestial layer, but they have no importance, as they are without body.

The Terrestrial Hierarchy is where all creatures other than angels, demons, renegades, and the Trinity reside. The hierarchy is, in decending order, werewolves and vampires (same level, but warring against each other), shape shifters (don't appear very often because they're confusing), incubi and succubi, elves, dwarves, (the next four are all one level) pixies, faeries, nymphs, and sprites, then (next level) mermaids (late in the story), then ghosts and poltergeist and other spirits, then (way at the bottom, the parasites of the terrestrial layer) humans.

The Sub-Terrestrial Hierarchy is ruled by Lucifer (who is female in this story. After her the most powerful are the Deep Six, or renegade angels. Last are the common demons. Human souls reside in the sub-terrestrial layer, but without a body they are useless.

Now for the disclaimers (there are a few):

First, this story will confuse the hell out of you. This is because we have (at last count) seventy-seven defined characters. With the way we introduce them it should be fairly easy to follow, but we can't promise anything. However, to ease the confusion of having so many characters, character profiles will be made available for you as the characters appear, first in the actual story, and then on a different site when I have the time and patience to set one up!

Second, we might offend some people in this story. This is because a lot of this story deals with religion and well, I at least don’t know that much about the Christian faith (I'm a Unitarian Universalist, give me a break, I have a lot to learn!). And since the guy who was supposed to help me kind of disappeared on me for about three months, I had to bullshit my way through a bit of it as I went along, before I started to collaborate with Aafke. So don’t nitpick, but if we got something horribly wrong, just review and let us know. Okay?

Last, as mentioned on or profile, and as you should have guessed from mine and afk's reputations, this story does have some yaoi. That’s male/male, for those of you who didn’t know. But that's not all, you know. There are many straight pairings, a yuri pairing or two, and one twincest pairing. There's something for everyone.
